String Curtains – A New Image For Your Living Room
The living room is the ‘face’ of your home. This is the room where you spend the evenings with your family; it’s the room where you invite your friends, your relatives and your colleagues. Here you can watch TV, have a pleasant quiet conversation or organize a noisy party – it’s all up to your taste and your favorite activities.
The way you decorate your living room will fully reflect your character: are you a conservative person who likes traditional design solutions? Are you playful, bold, always in pursuit of new experiments? Or maybe you’re a fan of modern minimalism? How about some vintage accessories? Or perhaps you enjoy the opulence of the European Renaissance? Or you may be attracted to the mysterious and extravagant look of the Arabian tales?

I hope everyone will agree with me that curtains are the clothes of your home: without them, even the prettiest room will look naked! Generally, we use sheer or heavy curtains as window treatments – they transform our house into a cozy home, at the same time protecting us from harsh light, curious eyes and drafts.
String curtains, besides looking gorgeous on your windows, can do many other practical things, especially for your living room design. Imagine that after getting rid of those 10 kitsch paintings, you have an empty wall and you can’t afford (yet) an original Picasso or Van Gogh. Buy string curtains of various colors (that will match the rest of your decor), mix them as your imagination will dictate and install them on the wall. You’ll have the most original wall decoration your friends have ever seen! Don’t forget that you can play with them however you want, changing their aspect as often as you feel necessary: one day they can just hang vertically, reaching the floor or the middle of the wall. Another day you can tie together or separate two or three patches. Then you can mix them, even braid them! The options are countless!
Many living rooms have French doors that lead to beautiful terraces, verandas or patios. Imagine how your French doors will look from the outside (and from the inside as well) when decorated with string curtains! When the doors are closed and you need some privacy, the drapes will block the view, allowing at the same time a glowing radiance of the sunlight to pass through. When the doors are opened, you can tie the curtains back or you can allow them to be blowing in the wind…
The same can be said about your living-room windows. String curtains, properly selected and strategically combined with your interior and exterior design, can make your home famous in the whole neighborhood!
Also, if your living-room is connected to your kitchen by a doorway, you can install string, beaded or fringe curtains instead of a door, this way delimiting the rooms without diminishing the space.
As you can see, there are many ways of adding elegance and a touch of personal style to your living room without investing a fortune. All you need is a good mood, a little creativity and string curtains!
