String Curtains For Your Bedroom

Did you notice that every room in your house has its own personality? The living room is the place where you watch TV, rest, read a book or a magazine, throw a party (why not?) and spend time with your family and friends. The kitchen is where you cook, or maybe heat the frozen pizza in the microwave . The dining room (if you have one) is that elegant and maybe a little bit formal area where you invite your mother-in-law and other members of the family for a traditional dinner.

When you think about all the above-mentioned rooms, you associate each of them with a certain social or domestic obligation. However, there is one room where you can forget about all the problems of the outside world , simply relax and be yourself – the bedroom.

The bedroom is the most personal space of your house or apartment. Don’t forget about this when you’re decorating. Put your fantasy to work and transform this room into your own kingdom, where everything pleases you and matches your taste.

You can use string curtains in different ways, especially when decorating your bedroom.

1. The window. First, decide which color you need. Remember that you’re choosing curtains for the room where you sleep and relax – you can allow yourself to ignore some ‘traditional’ solutions and express your personality. But, of course, don’t forget that the color of the string curtains has to be ‘in tune’ with the style of your furniture and the wallpaper. If you have a dark bedroom and you need more sunlight, opt for a lighter shade of your favorite color. If your room is too hot and sunny and you can’t sleep in the early morning because of the harsh light, then choose a darker shade and a thicker material. And remember that your window treatments are one of the most important elements of your home decor – without them, the house always looks somehow empty, ‘naked’.

2. Around the bed. I’m sure you all saw in movies or magazines elegant beds surrounded by curtains. String curtains are especially suitable for this use – they allow the air (and the imagination) to circulate, at the same time providing you with a certain level of privacy. Light string curtains are incredibly charming and romantic, making us think of the 19th century and the elegance of those times. White is the color of pureness of heart and openness of mind. Cream, beige and pastel tones are always elegant and aristocratic. Pink string curtains are for playful young ladies who are not afraid of expressing their preferences. Red string curtains are very expressive, sending a clear message about their owner: strong, determined, self-confident and passionate.

3. The wall behind the bed. You can successfully use string curtains behind your bed, not just around it! The wall near your bed is a good focus point where you can place a good painting, some photos, a flower arrangement or even curtains! When installed on a wall, string curtains lose their practical light-blocking side and become purely decorative. That’s why you can easily mix two, three or even more colors and create an unique pattern that will harmonize with your individuality and the style of your bedroom. But don’t forget that string curtains absorb dust faster than other types of drapes, that’s why you’ll need to clean and wash them more often.

4. The middle of the room. If you have a small apartment and you use your bedroom also as a living room or even as an office, then why not separate the working area from the sleeping area? String curtains are extremely useful as room dividers – they create the illusion of two different rooms without diminishing the already small place. Don’t forget to install some tie-backs and transform your apartment with two easy moves!
