String Curtains for Your Doors
String curtains are extremely multifunctional. As I wrote in my previous posts, you can use them in many different ways, both for decorative and practical purposes: to filter the sunlight coming from your window, to divide a room, to hide some unaesthetic areas of your home, to decorate a wall, to create a romantic atmosphere in your bedroom, to make a space seem bigger and simply to transform a common home decor into a special, unique one.
String curtains also look great when installed in a doorway. Doors are not just openings that lead from one room to the other. With string drapes and a little bit of imagination, you can make the entrances in your house more colorful and original. Depending on the particular style you prefer, you can even add some dramatic effects.
1. String curtains as a door decoration.
There are two ways of using string curtains in doorways. The simplest one is to soften the design of a particular door by decorating it with this type of curtains. You can attach them to the door itself (in this case, the procedure will be similar to the one used to create a wall decoration), or you can hang them from a rod placed above the doorway (as shown in the picture).
One way or the other, make sure you choose a color or a color palette that will enrich the decor of your home, blending with the general design and adding a touch of mystery. Even for a minimalist design in light tones – white, beige, peach or cream, you can put some delicate accents by matching the color of string curtains with the shade of a specific piece of furniture, a painting, a vase or even the potted plants. A little bit of green, orange, red, yellow or blue will look extremely stylish even for the most exquisite taste, as long as you don’t exaggerate.
You can decorate this way the door leading to the bedroom, the living room, the kitchen, even the front and the back doors! String curtains will also look inspired on your patio doors, especially if you use light colors and soft materials. If your patio is designed in a particular style, make sure you match the door decoration with the image of your backyard. Imagine how delightful it will be to have your patio doors wide open, especially during summer, and let the warm air play with the soft, transparent strings! Believe me, it will look amazing! Not to mention the fact that string curtains can also protect you from big insects.
2. String curtains as a decoration for an empty doorway.
Modern design is most of the time oriented towards minimalism and space-enhancement. That’s why we can see in many stylish homes doorways without doors, especially having an archway form. This architectural solution makes a room or a house seem bigger, full of light and fresh air. By placing string curtains in an empty doorway, you achieve two purposes with a single move: you maintain the effect of open space, allowing the air and the light to pass through and, at the same time, you can add a little more privacy when it’s needed. Don’t forget to install tie-backs on your curtains. This way, when you have many guests or you just need to circulate freely, you can tie the strings to both sides of the doorway. Then, with just two simple moves, your room-dividers are back in place! And don’t forget that when you’re tired of the color or the texture of your curtains, you can easily replace them! It’s the simplest way to change the style of a room!
You could also use string curtains with beads, especially in the doorway leading from the kitchen to the dining room. This type of curtains is very exotic, being suitable for designs with oriental accents.
Thanks to string curtains, you can change the look of a door or an empty doorway as often as you choose: it’s much easier to replace your curtains than to buy and install a new door! You can browse many affordable offers on the online market – even wholesale options – where you’ll definitely find the exact model that you’re looking for. It’s always worth investing in a relatively cheap home accessory that can easily transform you interior design, making it stylish and exclusive.
